Selling Your Home? Make it Sparkle With These Tips!
When you sell your home, your goal is to make it as attractive to your potential buyers as possible. A clean and smelling-good home invites people and helps sell your home faster. Save time and energy with these cleaning tips to help your home be buyer-ready.
Banish the clutter
If the house is crowded with the owner’s items, they may assume that the house is too small for their possessions. Moreover, it would be harder for potential buyers to imagine themselves living there when all your personal items, like photos, are up.
Also, clutter is a safety hazard. We don’t want a potential buyer to be tripping on items left on the stairs or floors.
To stage your home, banish the clutter. Box up as much of your personal stuff as you can and place them in storage.
Combat Mold and Mildew
Mold and mildew are problems in bathrooms. Here’s how to clean it:
- Mix liquid bleach half-and-half with water and spray it on shower doors, shower curtains, and grout between tiles
- Use a non-streaking cleaning product, such as a glass or glass and multi-surface cleaner, for shower doors and mirrors.
Wash the Windows
A home’s curb appeal can get dragged down by dirty windows. Speed things up by using this solution: 1/2 gallon of warm water, 2-3 tablespoons liquid laundry detergent or dish soap, and 1 tablespoon liquid of Jet Dry. Simply hose your windows, wipe them down with this solution, then hose them off again. It makes your windows sparkly.
Carpet Care
A lot of homebuyers prefer the look of carpet over area rugs. Carpets give that warm look in any home and makes the area more spacious. When vacuuming, be sure to start at the farthest corner, then work backwards toward the door so you don’t leave any footprints.
For nasty-smelling carpet, sprinkle a box of baking soda before vacuuming up.
Making sure that the potential buyers feel that your home can be theirs in the future can be well-achieved by presenting a clean house that smells good.
